Frequently Asked Questions

How Can a Chiropractor Help With Back Pain?

Your chiropractor will determine the cause of your back pain by conducting a full physical exam as well as imaging tests. These imaging tests can include X-rays. They will also ask you about the nature of your pain to get a better understanding of your symptoms. Your chiropractor will then provide the best back pain treatment, including:

  • Muscle massages to soothe tense and sore muscles.
  • Spinal decompression to alleviate pinched nerves from herniated discs or sciatica.
  • Manual adjustments to realign the spine, improve balance and posture, and help improve your overall health.
  • Trigger point or soundwave therapy to target specific injured tissues in the back.

Many people have gained significant relief with regular spinal adjustments. When your spine is properly aligned, your circulation is better, your nerves work better, and your muscles are better able to relax. Chiropractors also help you correct your posture so you can keep your spine aligned correctly in between sessions. Correct posture helps prevent undue pressure on your nerves.

Chiropractors use many techniques to treat neck pain. Chiropractic techniques are natural and non-invasive. You do not have to go through a long recovery period away from work or deal with complications from pain medication. Other treatment modalities include:

  • Spinal decompression therapy and spinal adjustments are popular treatment options. A chiropractor may pair these methods with massage therapy. These methods are used for adjusting the muscles and bones for improved comfort.
  • Exercise can also relieve neck pain while strengthening the muscles. When you strengthen the muscles, you prevent some areas of your body from being forced to compensate for others.
  • Stretching improves your range of motion. Daily stretches that target your neck can help elongate the muscles and improve your flexibility. You will also feel more mobile and less at risk for injuries.
  • Our chiropractors may also recommend lifestyle counseling, which includes stress management and ergonomic solutions. Diet changes can also be beneficial if you have a chronic condition that leads to serious flare-ups.

The treatments available for shoulder pain depend on the severity of the condition and the underlying cause. Our chiropractor will evaluate your condition and recommend an appropriate treatment plan based on your specific needs.

Some treatment plans involve exercises and stretches. Others may involve manual chiropractic adjustments and massages. Our chiropractor may also assess your spinal alignment. In some cases, our chiropractor may recommend additional treatments such as physical therapy or injections. You may also consider lifestyle counseling, which also considers ergonomic solutions.

No matter what treatment plan our chiropractor recommends, it’s important to follow through with the recommended exercises and stretches to ensure a full recovery. This is especially true if you have an acute injury that requires rehabilitation.
